SDI Open Water Diver
The SDI Open Water Diver course is an entry-level scuba diving certification course designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and confidently explore the underwater world. This course is recognized worldwide and is the most popular scuba diving certification course.
During the course, participants will learn about scuba diving equipment, diving techniques, underwater communication, and dive planning. The course consists of both classroom and practical training, including confined water dives and open water dives.
In the classroom sessions, participants will learn the theory behind scuba diving, including the physics and physiology of diving, dive planning, and dive safety. They will also learn about scuba diving equipment, how to assemble and disassemble it, and how to perform basic maintenance.
During the confined water dives, participants will practice essential scuba diving skills, such as how to breathe underwater, clearing water from the regulator, and emergency procedures.
In the open water dives, participants will apply the skills they learned in confined water and practice them in a real-world setting. Participants will conduct a series of four open water dives, where they will explore the underwater environment and encounter aquatic life.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an SDI Open Water Diver certification card, which is recognized worldwide and allows them to dive independently with a buddy to a depth of 18 meters.
Prerequisites: Participants must be at least 10 years old, have basic swimming skills, and be in good physical health. Participants under the age of 15 will receive a Junior Open Water Diver certification, which has certain depth restrictions.
