SDI Rescue Diver
The SDI Rescue Diver course is designed to provide divers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to diving emergencies. This course builds upon the skills learned in the SDI Advanced Diver course, and provides divers with the training and knowledge to become effective first responders in the event of a diving emergency.
During this course, students will learn about the causes and prevention of diving emergencies, as well as the proper techniques for responding to a variety of scenarios. Students will be trained in self-rescue, recognizing and managing stress in other divers, and responding to diving emergencies, including airway management, equipment failures, and other situations that may arise.
In addition to classroom and pool training, the SDI Rescue Diver course also includes several open water training dives, where students will have the opportunity to practice and apply their skills in real-world situations. During these dives, students will learn how to conduct search and recovery operations, provide assistance to other divers, and manage emergency situations.
Upon completion of this course, students will have a deep understanding of the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to diving emergencies, and will be well-prepared to handle a variety of situations. Students who successfully complete the SDI Rescue Diver course will be awarded a certification card that is recognized worldwide.
Prerequisites:
To enroll in the SDI Rescue Diver course, students must:
- Be at least 15 years old
- Be certified as an SDI Advanced Diver or equivalent
- Have completed CPR and first aid training within the past two years
Course Goals:
- Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to diving emergencies
- Learn how to effectively manage stress in other divers and in oneself
- Understand the proper techniques for managing airway and breathing emergencies
- Learn how to manage equipment failures and other emergency situations
- Gain practical experience through open water training dives
Certification:
Students who successfully complete the SDI Rescue Diver course will be awarded a certification card that is recognized worldwide. This certification is valid for life, but it is recommended that students continue their training and education through advanced courses and regular diving experience.
